STARTED & FINISHED GUNDOGS

Want a hunting dog but don't have time to train? Then purchase a started or finished hunting dog. Kelly will raise the pup and train it to a started or finished level dog, so you can buy the dog of your dreams with a great start!

STARTED GUNDOGS

If you are bringing your own dog, completion of this level of training normally takes about 2 months. The dog will be proficient in these skills:

  • Heel off lead

  • Extended sit

  • Recall on the "here" command and on the whistle.

  • Place command

  • Whistle commands

  • Pile work

  • Single T

  • Swim-by

  • Basic blind retrieves

  • Double marks

  • Gunfire will be the norm for marks and the dog will be steady to wing and shot

  • Dead birds

  • Water retrieves

FINISHED GUNDOGS

If you are bringing your own dog, completion of this level of training normally takes about 1-2 month(s). The dog will be proficient in all started skills, in addition to:

  • Cold blinds

  • Blinds with marks included

  • Cleaned up handling (casting & lining)

  • Recall on the "here" command and on the whistle.

  • Improved marking at longer distances & in heavy cover
